Canon is gearing up to release new vlogging camera

Canon Japan teased a new vlogging camera. Though the tease doesn’t reveal much, we’ve got a few notable nuggets of information.

Canon shared an image of a hand pulling a cloth away from what appears to be the new vlogging camera. Canon also hints that this camera will bring “new possibilities for vlogs.” Will we see something new and innovative from this new vlogging camera? Let’s discuss this.

Possible design and features

The graphic accompanying the teaser suggests a vertically oriented camera, which may stand upright on its own. Although the red cloth covering the camera keeps most of the details hidden, the outline of a lens is visible, indicating a potential fixed-lens system. This wouldn’t be surprising, as Canon has introduced fixed-lens video cameras previously, such as the Canon XC10 — a hybrid fixed-lens camcorder capable of shooting 4K video.

Vertical design?

The vertically oriented design may seem unusual, but Canon has a history of embracing unconventional camera designs. Over the past few years, the company has released a series of innovative cameras like the IVY Rec. So, Canon’s got a track record for releasing cameras that aren’t conventional. Does that mean this camera’s for sure going to have an unconventional design? No. But we wouldn’t be surprised if it does.

Stay tuned

As details remain scarce, it’s challenging to predict what this new vlogging camera will bring to the table. However, given Canon’s track record of delivering cutting-edge technology and innovative designs, it’s safe to assume that this camera will garner attention from the vlogging community. Thankfully, with the announcement just around the corner, we won’t have to wait long to get all the details on this new vlogging camera.

We’ll give you the full scoop on this camera as soon as more details release.
