ANDYCINE launches daylight-viewable touchscreen monitor

Chinese manufacturer ANDYCINE has launched the ANDYCINE C5 5.5″ Daylight-Viewable Touchscreen On-Camera Monitor. The C5 has an ultra-bright screen, which should make it easy to view even in sunlit daylight conditions.

Full HD display

The ANDYCINE C5 monitor has a Full HD 1920 by 1080 pixel display with a brightness of 3300 cd/m². The screen also has a 1000:1 contrast ratio and a 160-degree viewing angle. This means the screen will be easy to see, even from an extreme angle. There’s also a built-in light sensor so the monitor can adjust its brightness automatically when the light environment changes.

4K 60 Hz input

The ANDYCINE C5 monitor can display video signals up to 4K at 60 Hz via a full-size HDMI input. It can also handle HD and SD video formats and has an anamorphic display mode. In addition, there is an HDMI loop-through output. This is useful if you need to send the video signal to a second monitor or wireless video transmitter. You can monitor your camera’s audio via the 3.5 mm headphone socket on the C5.

Touchscreen

You can access and control a range of built-in imaging tools via the touchscreen on the ANDYCINE C5 monitor. The exposure tools include waveform, vectorscope, histogram, zebras and false colors. The C5 monitor also has peaking and a zoom in option to help you focus accurately. In addition, there is an SD card slot on the monitor’s base. This allows you to load custom LUTs via an SD card to customize the display to preview the finished look of your footage.

Battery power

The ANDYCINE C5 monitor has an L-series battery plate so it can be powered by an NP-F battery. Alternatively, there is a 12v DC input on the bottom of the monitor. The C5 can also output 8v DC to power some cameras and accessories. The back of the monitor has a second NP-F battery plate which you can use to attach a wireless transmitter.

Active cooling

The ANDYCINE C5 monitor has an active cooling system with a low-powered fan. Air is drawn in through vents on the side and rear of the monitor, then expelled out through the top of the case. There are 1/4-inch-20 mounting threads on the side and base of the monitor. The C5 comes with a friction mount and a micro HDMI cable.

Pricing and availability

The ANDYCINE C5 5.5″ Daylight-Viewable Touchscreen On-Camera Monitor is available for preorder now and retails at $259.
