AMD has announced new additions to their Radeon Pro W6000 series of graphics solutions. The AMD Radeon PRO W6400 graphics card offers up to three times higher performance than the previous generation. AMD claims to have optimized the AMD Radeon PRO W6500M and AMD Radeon PRO W6300M GPUs to power next-gen mobile workstations.

“The Radeon PRO W6400 is a powerful graphics card that harnesses the award-winning AMD RDNA 2 architecture feature set, enabling not only mainstream CAD professionals to produce incredible and complex designs, but also meeting the demands of today’s office workers who need to edit images, create presentations, collaborate and multitask more than ever,” Scott Herkelman, senior vice president and general manager, Graphics Business Unit at AMD.

8K display support

AMD’s W6000 Series of graphics solutions offer hardware-accelerated raytracing and 8K display support. Other standard features include VR creator support, HDR support and quad-buffer stereo.

AMD says it built its Radeon PRO W6400 graphics card on the high-performance, energy-efficient AMD RDNA 2 graphics architecture. This utilizes AMD’s advanced 6 nm manufacturing process technology. It also uses 16 MB of high-bandwidth, low-latency AMD Infinity Cache memory technology as a bandwidth amplifier. AMD also claims it optimized the new graphics card for the requirements of CAD and office productivity applications in a compact design.

Three times higher performance

Compared to the previous generation, the PRO W6400 delivers up to three times higher performance in Autodesk AutoCAD 2022. It also offers up to 87 percent higher performance in McNeel Rhino using the Holomark 2 benchmark with mesh, object, and model data stress tests.

Radeon PRO W6500M and W6300M

AMD has designed the W6500M and W6300M GPUs for next-gen professional mobile workstations. These new GPUs also utilize AMD’s RDNA 2 graphics architecture with 6nm process technology. In addition, they take advantage of up to 8MB of AMD Infinity Cache memory technology to deliver ultra-high viewport frame rates.

Pricing and availability

The AMD Radeon PRO W6400 graphics card will release in Q1 2022, with prices starting from $229. The AMD Radeon PRO W6500M and W6300M GPUs will be available in prebuilt OEM systems in select countries later this year.
