Amaran has launched two new video panel lights aimed at content creators. The Amaran Verge and Verge Max are designed for use on your desktop or in other small spaces.
Amaran Verge
The Amaran Verge is a bi-color, edge-lit panel light. It casts a soft, even glow so that you get a flattering light on your face without harsh shadows. The compact panel measures 11.5 inches (29.3 cm) wide by 8.7 inches (22.1 cm) high by only 1.1 inches (2.8 cm) deep. It’s also relatively lightweight at only 2.1 pounds (940g). In addition, you can choose between charcoal or white color options for the body of the light to match the aesthetic of your studio.
Bi-color
The Verge offers a bi-color range from 2700K to 6500K. With a CRI of 96 and a TLCI of 97, you can be sure that colors in your scene will be reproduced correctly on camera. The Verge also delivers up to 3150 lux at 1.6 feet (0.5 meters) and 822 lux at 3.3 feet (1 meter) when set to 5600K. In addition, it is RG0-certified to eliminate UV, reduce blue light, and be flicker-free so you can create all day without eye strain.

Amran Verge Max
The Amaran Verge Max is a bi-color, 22-inch (55 cm) circular edge-lit panel. It gives you the same flattering light you get from a softbox while being super thin. The Verge measures 23.6 inches(60 cm) by 24.4 inches (62 cm) and is 1.4 inches (3.6 cm) deep. It’s also heavier than the Verge, tipping the scales at over 8 pounds (3.66kg). Again, you can opt for a white or charcoal color variant.
Output
The Verge Max has the same bi-color range of 2700K to 6500K as the Verge. With a CRI of 96 and a TLCI of 98, it offers an even higher color accuracy. Due to its larger size, the Verge Max also has a much higher output. At 5600K, you get up to 6750 lux at 1.6 feet (0.5 meters) and 1955 lux at 3.3 feet (1 meter). Despite the higher output, the Verge Max is still RG0-certified to be easy on your eyes. In addition, Amaran makes an optional light control grid for the Verge Max.
Controlling the lights
The Amaran Verge and Verge Max both feature control knobs on the front so you can adjust the color temperature and intensity. You can also use the Amaran app to control the lights remotely. In addition, the Verge and Verge Max can be seamlessly integrated into your Stream Deck workflow.
Power and mounting
The Amaran Verge and Verge Max are powered via a single USB-C PD cable and come with power adapters. To mount the Verge, you can use the ¼-20 screw thread on the base. However, both lights also feature Amaran’s new Verge Lock Mount on the back. The Verge Max also comes with a desk clamp stand that uses this new mount. In addition, you can buy a range of desk mounts and light stand adapters to fit the Verge Lock mount for either light.
What we think
The Amaran Verge and Verge Max are ideal new lighting options for content creators and live streamers. You can easily mount the lights on your desk without needing the depth that a soft box takes up. However, you still get the same soft light, so you look great on camera. In addition, Amaran has ensured that the output won’t hurt your eyes when you are in front of the lights for a long time, which is an important consideration. If you are a content creator or live streamer, the Amaran Verge and Verge Max could be what you need to take your videos to the next level.
Availability
The Amaran Verge starts at $79 for the light itself, and you can also pick up bundles with the various stand and mount options. Alternatively, the Verge Max starts at $259 for a kit that includes the desk clamp stand. Both lights are scheduled to ship from early June 2025.
