Adobe Premiere Pro adds AI speech enhancement

Adobe has released the latest version of its video editing program, Premiere Pro. The February release, version 24.2, adds AI-powered speech enhancement, native export to TikTok and support for color fonts.

Enhance Speech

Premiere Pro’s Enhance Speech tool is now out of beta and available to all users. This AI-powered feature reduces distracting background noise to improve the quality of your dialogue clips. This means you can enhance the clarity and quality of your voice recordings with a single click. You can also easily adjust the amount of enhancement you want to use. In addition, the Enhance Speech tool is accelerated by NVIDIA RTX. As a result, the feature is 75 percent faster on a GeForce RTX 4090 laptop GPU than the previous generation.

Share to TikTok

Premiere Pro’s native export to TikTok is also now out of beta. The new integration means that you can log into your TikTok account from inside Premiere Pro. You can then create your posts and drafts, as well as add captions, hashtags and keywords. Once you are ready, you can export your videos directly to TikTok from inside Premiere Pro, without compromising the quality or ranking of your videos. In addition, there are new templates and sequence presets so you can quickly set up projects for publishing to TikTok.

Color fonts and emojis

With the latest version of Premiere Pro, you can now install color fonts from Adobe Fonts or other font websites. Color fonts include a range of colors, graphical elements, and textures in the letters for you to enhance your videos. In addition, Premiere Pro now provides full emoji support on Mac-based computers. With the new Emojis & Symbols picker in the main Edit menu, you can effortlessly insert emojis directly into your text layers. Unfortunately for Windows users, limitations in the OS mean that the default Segoe UI Emoji Font will render in black and white.

Other enhancements

Adobe has streamlined proxy creation in Premiere Pro 24.2 with new frame size selections and updated proxy presets. There is also support for Sony’s new Burano cinema camera with import options for its X-OCN and XAVC formats. In addition, analysis for Warp Stabilizer is now faster and the Noise Effect is now GPU-accelerated. As always, there are a range of bug fixes and performance enhancements for existing features.

What we think

With the latest update to Premiere Pro, Adobe is continuing its rollout of AI-powered features. The Enhance Speech tool is ideal for run and gun shooters who may need to capture audio in less than ideal situations. In addition, with support for direct export to TikTok as well as color fonts and emojis, Adobe is reaching out to content creators. However, with the support for Burano, the company is ensuring that Premiere Pro is still a high-end tool for professional filmmakers.

The Premiere Pro 24.2 update is available to download now.
