I’d Like to Thank the Internet…
The 11th Annual Webby Awards were held in New York City recently, honoring excellence in Web design in more than a hundred different categories, including Web site content, structure and navigation and interactive advertising.
The annual Webby Awards included a specific video category for the first time. Winners included the vidcasters of Terra: The Nature of Our World and the Extreme Diet Coke and Mentos Experiment, guys who have also been nominated for a daytime Emmy in the new Broadband Variety category.
Share the Air Contest
There’s still time to enter the Panasonic Share the Air video
contest. The contest is looking for positive and original 24-second video entries that interpret the phrase “Share the Air.” Sample videos can be found on the Web site, along with contest rules (of course), and they also give you free downloadable music to use in your video. Take that, copyright cops!
Entry for the next contest is August 16th through October 15th.
Coming to a Videomaker Near You…
The landscape of “How To” video sharing is growing, and we’ve been telling you about it from the beginning on Videomaker Presents.
Now we’ll be bringing you more video-sharing news right here in the magazine. Learn to become an expert in your field, or just share something you know how to do. We’ll be finding and reporting on ways you can hook up with video-sharing sites that revolve around the idea of sharing a hobby or passion.
There are more and more Web sites being created every day on video sharing and the community that the sharing creates.
Here are four such sites that we’re keeping an eye on: 5min.com, www.videojug.com, www.expertvillage.com and www.sutree.com. Each site is based on the concept that you have a talent that you would like to share with the Internet viewer, and you have the skills to capture that talent on video. It’s time to share your knowledge, share your skill and broaden your friend base. Watch for more video sharing site news here in Videomaker.
