Adobe is bringing licensed music to Premiere mobile so you can find the perfect track for your video. The company is working with Universal Music Group (UMG) and Warner Music Group (WMG), two of the world’s leading music companies.

Direct integration

Adobe will build music from UMG and WMG right into Premiere mobile. You can create videos around songs you love. Popular tunes also help your edits keep up with current trends or start new ones. Licensed music opens up more chances for artists and songwriters to reach new audiences too.

New features

In Premiere mobile, you can browse, search and preview trending music by artist or track. Filters for genre and duration help you narrow the list, and you can bookmark favorites. Once you find a song, add up to 60 seconds of it directly to your video.

Customizable templates paired with music jump-start your edit. When you finish, share the video to your favorite licensed social platforms.

Connecting with others

Bryan Stone, senior vice president of business development at UMG, says music has always been a powerful way for people to connect with others. He says bringing UMG artists into Premiere mobile gives creators new ways to build stories around songs they love. It should also help UMG’s artists and songwriters reach new audiences.

New possibilities

Rachel Scarpati, vice president of digital strategy and business development at WMG, notes that people engage with music well beyond traditional listening platforms. She says the partnership puts WMG’s catalog directly into the creative process. That opens up new possibilities for expression and deeper fan engagement.

What we think

Short-form social video has grown fast, and Adobe’s editing tools fell a little behind. Free apps such as CapCut and Canva are easy to use. They include the templates, transitions and effects that let new users build dynamic videos quickly.

Adobe is working hard to catch up. It added a host of new effects and transitions to Premiere for desktop. Now it has teamed up with UMG and WMG to license the latest music for editing on the go with Premiere mobile. Whether that puts Adobe back on top of the charts for social video editing remains to be seen. Either way, creators get a great new resource for their videos.

Availability

Adobe says music from UMG and WMG is coming to Premiere mobile “soon.” The tracks are licensed for personal, non-commercial use only. If you need commercially licensed music, keep using Adobe Stock or your regular music libraries.
