Rokinon introduced the 4th lens in their Auto Focus Full Frame lense line, designed specifically for Sony E-mount cameras, the 35mm F1.4 AF Full Frame Wide Angle. Rokinon believes that this prime lense will meet and even exceed the performance of all its competition and at the same time be more affordable.
Rokinon says that the lens has been designed with the unique flange focal distance of Sony E mount cameras in mind, which they say will offer superior image quality. It's also reported to have a optical configuration of 11 elements in 9 groups that uses 2 Aspherical and 2 High-Refractive Index lens elements to deliver a great resolution.
The Rokinon’s 35mm F1.4 uses a new internal focusing (IF) system for quiet and precise focusing. Rokinon states in a press release that, “To enhance the exceptional optical technology of the ROKINON 35mm F1.5 AF, a new quiet, fast, and precise IF (Internal Focusing) autofocus system is employed for superior focus detection that will capture any moment clearly.”
The lens is supposed to make working in conditions that are difficult light easier with its F1.4 maximum aperture, and this also means the lens can offer shallow depth of field with greater point of focus control. Rokinon also promises pleasing bokeh will the lens's circular 9-blade diaphragm in all settings.
