Vitec Acquires JOBY and Lowepro

Just this week, Vitec, a company that owns brands like Sachtler, SmallHD and Manfrotto, announced that they are acquiring JOBY and Lowepro to boost their photographic division.

JOBY is a company that also creates camera support accessories, namely DSLR and smartphone camera support. They released oft-imitated GorillaPod back in 2006 – a flexible tripod with three bendable legs. Lowepro makes carry bags for equipment like cameras and drones for professional outdoor and adventure photographers and videographers.

Vitec looks to have Lowepro’s photographic bag compliment Manfrotto, which already creates photographic for professional urban and studio photographers. This will mean that Vitec will have bags for both the indoor and outdoor creator.

JOBY and Lowepro will be under the leadership of Vitec’s Photographical Division Chief Executive, Marco Pezzana.

“We are proud to announce that two remarkable brands within the photographic accessories market, JOBY and Lowepro, will join the Vitec Photographic Division,” Pezzana commented. “We pride ourselves on supplying the leading photographic brands to the global market. This natural addition to our business strengthens the already outstanding offering we provide to our partners worldwide.”

Pezzana continued, “We believe that our extensive knowledge of the photographic market will enable us to add a wealth of value to these already leading brands. JOBY and Lowepro’s product development expertise, coupled with our established global distribution network, engineering and manufacturing capabilities, creates exciting opportunities for both Vitec Group and our global partners.”

Vitec is looking to the future to become one of the biggest global provider of accessories and hope that these two new additions will allow them to stay essential in the growing mobile photography and vlogging markets.
