April 6, 2017, Western Digital unveiled the company's fastest portable drive to date: the My Passport SSD.
The palm-sized storage device has been designed for content creators and tech enthusiasts, combining both speed and portability to allow its users to carry and manage massive files on the go.

The My Passport SSD is compatible with both Type-C and Type-A USB ports for Mac and PC. When using the Type-C USB port, it can reach speeds of up to 515MB/s. It is also USB 3.1 Gen 2, USB 3.0, 2.0 and USB-A compatible.

Other features of the My Passport SSD includes an automatic backup system. It comes with a WD Backup software that allows you automatically backup high-capacity files to either your drive or Dropbox; it is also compatible with Apple Time Machine with reformatting.
Another component of My Passport SSD is its reliability. It is built to withstand a drop of up to 6.5 feet from the ground and you can also set a password to keep your data protected with its built-in 256-bit AES Hardware Encryption with WD Security software.
