The lucky winner of our Samsung NX1 Sweepstakes is Sean Nipper. Sean grew up in Ashland, Ore. and through involvement in theater, acting in educational films, and creating his own shorts using VHS recorders, became passionate about filmmaking.
Sean decided to pursue his calling and headed to the San Francisco – Bay Area. While continuing to do small freelance work in video, he managed several coffee shops for a well-known chain in San Francisco. In 2009, Sean decided to leave the corporate world and attended the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where he majored in Motion Pictures & Television with an emphasis on directing. After his education, Sean started the small production company in the Bay Area, known as Nipper Media, and hit the ground running creating web-based videos for businesses in and around the area.
During Thanksgiving in 2013, Sean and his family traveled to Ashland to visit friends and family. Witnessing again the creative culture in the town he grew up in, he was reminded of the beauty and inspiration that abounds the area, and decided to relocate back home. In July 2014, he started a new and improved production company, Reel House Films in Southern Oregon.
Sean connected with other filmmakers in the area through Southern Oregon Film and Media, which is an organization that offers a multitude of benefits for its members. SOFaM is a resource for filmmakers to assemble crews and services for productions through their web-based directory.
Sean has been able to build a professional and creative crew that can manage any size and budget through his membership with SOFaM. Sean credits much of his success with Reel House Films to this organization.
In 2015, Ashland, Ore. was named the #1 best place to work and live as a filmmaker by Movie Maker Magazine, and Sean is proud to say that Reel House Films is growing exponentially in Southern Oregon. Reel House Films is currently in post-production for a feature Documentary, entitled “Life, Adjusted”. This film explores the healing and transformation that can occur through chiropractic care, shown through the perspective of horses.
In April 2016, Reel House Films will begin shooting a feature length narrative set in the post apocalyptic age, and Sean is looking forward to continuing his journey as a director within the film industry.
We look forward to following Sean and seeing what he shoots with the Samsung NX1 in upcoming video projects. For more sweepstakes please visit our page, Win Video Gear.
