Dell today announced updates to their flagship 15-inch mobile workstation, the Dell Precision M3800. The M3800 aims to give video editors and creative pros the thinnest, lightest and most powerful laptop on the market, a position often held by Apple’s MacBook Pro.

To attract power users from the state next door, the Dell Precision M3800 has added some truly high end features. To start, the M3800 has an optional 4K Ultra HD touch display came straight from the wish lists of Dell customers. This amazing display is wedged into a machine only 0.71 inches (18mm) thick and weighing 4.15 lbs (1.88kg).[image:blog_post:55581]

The latest Precision M3800 also adds Thunderbolt 2 ports, speedy Intel SSDs up to 2TB, and even an option for a developer edition that comes pre-loaded with Ubuntu.

“Dell workstation power is behind the work of some of the world’s top animators, film editors and visual effects artists, so at Dell we understand the pressure these professionals experience to deliver more creative output under increasingly tighter timelines,” said Andy Rhodes, global executive director for Dell workstations. “Whether it’s editing video while on location, presenting CAD ideas to customers, or doing 3D modeling, animation and rendering on the road, the Dell Precision M3800 delivers the ideal blend of form and function to meet rising demands for performance on-the-go.”

It seems creative pros agree with the direction Dell has chosen to go with the latest M3800.

“Dell is proving to me that they are paying attention to high-end users and offering great performance specs in workstations built for high-end users,” said Cyprian York Sadlon, motion graphics artist and founder of Notch NYC studio in New York. “Now with the Dell Precision M3800, I have the processing power needed to go through all my footage and manipulate any photos that I'm currently working on no matter where I am.”

The 4th generation i7-based M3800 is available starting today with that better-than-Retina, Gorilla Glass encased UHD touch display, professional grade NVIDIA Quadro K1100M graphics and up to 16GB of memory. Having worked closely with Adobe to ensure amazing Creative Cloud app performance, this mobile workstation is designed with the creative professional in mind.

So there it is. Starting at $1,699, the thinnest, lightest, and highest resolution laptop on the planet today is the Dell Precision M3800. It’s pretty darn powerful as well.[image:blog_post:55582]
