The JVC GY-LS300 Super 35mm UHD 4K Camera with Interchangealbe MFT Mount

JVC today launched three new members of the 4KCAM family, the interchangeable lens GY-LS300, the GY-HM200U and the compact GY-HM170U. All three feature 4K UHD shooting and full HD shooting with 4:2:2 sampling.

Starting with the GY-LS300, JVC has brought together a wealth of features, starting with the JVCKENWOOD AltaSens 4K CMOS Super 35mm image sensor. Whether using native MFT lenses, or other size lenses, the LS300 uses JVC’s proprietary Variable Scan Mapping feature to maintain the lens’ native angle of view. This frees up the filmmaker to go beyond stock lenses and allows use of high end cinema lenses.* Additionally, the LS300 can be mounted to microscopes and other devices using a MFT/C-mount adapter. The S35 sensor and MFT mount mean plenty of freedom when it comes to appropriate lens choices.

*Mount adaptor may be required. Adapters are available for PL, EF, C, and other lenses.[image:blog_post:54651]

The GY-HM200U and GY-HM170U boast similar skill sets, only with a fixed 12x optical zoom lens and a single 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor. Like it’s big brother, the HM200U can shoot in 4K UHD in a number of formats. All three cameras capture footage to SDHC/SDXC cards.
Unique to the new JVC lineup are the unique optional broadband routers included in the LS300 and HM200U. Not only would remote production crews benefit from a simple way to deliver a live video stream without the need for a microwave or satellite truck, but those looking to stream directly to YouTube or USTREAM can take advantage of the camera’s use of dual codecs to stream while simultaneously recording in HD to a memory card.
