Launching a new consumer technology is tough. Let alone trying to launch in the midst of a format war. So Sony's third delay to release its anticipated BDP-S1 may not come as a surprise to many, but certainly it becomes one more opportunity for consumers to take a second look at HD-DVD. The set-top player will list for about $1000, which seems to be a common entry point for many of these first product issues, but now delivery isn't anticipated until December. So if you've been acquiring in high definition and have even invested in an first gen Blu-ray burner, you'll have to wait just a bit longer for friends and family to view your latest cool videos. Hey, if you've got an extra couple grand, I'm sure they'd make great Christmas gifts!
