Shining Tech adds HD support to harddrive recorder

from a Shining Technology press release

April 29, 2006- Videographers, broadcasting and editing professionals with new HD cameras and NLE (non-linear editing) software just got some

added help to save production time by eliminating the tedious, time-consuming video capture process CitiDISK for HD.

CitiDISK for HD is a high-capacity video storage peripheral small enough to fit in the palm of the hand. It’s being

introduced at NAB by Shining Technology, a leading provider of high-performance data storage solutions for the professional

and prosumer digital video, video editing and broadcast markets. CitiDISK for HD is Shining’s latest addition to its

award-winning line of DV / HDV storage peripherals. This new offering marks the company’s support for Panasonic’s widely

accepted and rapidly growing HD format (DVCPRO HD).

weighing a mere 10 oz., the FireWire-enabled CitiDISK for HD offers the speed, storage capacity, portability and simplicity

of recording directly from camcorders into most NLE (non-linear editing) software packages with instant playback capability,

thus eliminating the intermediate step of re-capturing video footage.

But AG-HVX200 users perhaps will benefit most from CitiDISK for HD’s extra storage capacity, providing up to an additional

120GB (equivalent to approximately two hours of recording time) for their HD-hungry footage. With Panasonic’s 4GB and 8GB P2

High Performance Cards priced at $650.00 and $1,400.00 each, respectively, CitiDISK for HD is an attractive, compelling

peripheral.

In addition, competitive external video storage drives are significantly heavier, have a larger footprint and offer less

storage capacity while costing nearly double that of CitiDISK for HD.

To give users maximum power sources without disrupting their workflow, CitiDISK for HD embeds a rechargeable Lithium Polymer

battery that automatically kicks in when external battery power runs low. This seamless battery power changeover ensures

non-stop shooting capability with no need to shut down the unit.

Since its product family inception several years ago, Shining has won major industry awards with each generation of CitiDISK.

These include accolades from venerable trade media, such as a Broadcast Engineering NAB2005 "Pick Hit" Award and a TV

Technology NAB2004 "Mario" Award.

Pricing & Availability
CitiDISK for HD is expected to ship in Q2 2006. Storage capacities will be available in 80GB, 100GB and 120GB models (all

with identical footprint). Pricing is anticipated at $979.00 – $1199.00 (MSRP). The complete CitiDISK line of products and

accessories are available through Shining Technology’s international distribution network, accessible at
