Canopus Ships ADVC110 Bus-Powered Analog/Digital Video Converter

Reprinted from a Canopus press release:

Canopus Corporation, makers of award-winning, digital video production solutions, today announced the availability of ADVC110, a portable external bidirectional analog/digital video converter for Windows and Mac OS-based computers that features FireWire bus-powered operation and audio-only conversion capabilities. ADVC110 is an affordable conversion solution that easily connects VHS, Hi8 and other analog video equipment to DV cameras, decks and editing systems.

ADVC110 is ideal for the capture and output of S-Video and composite analog video from FireWire-equipped notebook or desktop computers. There are no software drivers to install and systems equipped with 6-pin FireWire ports are able to supply power through the FireWire cable, so ADVC110 does not require an external power supply. Systems and devices equipped with 4-pin FireWire ports will require an optional power supply. ADVC110 can also operate as a stand-alone converter without requiring a computer.

To deliver the highest-quality video preservation during analog-to-DV conversion, ADVC110 features Canopus’s proven DV hardware codec technology that is found in the full line of Canopus DV capture cards and Advanced Digital Video Converters. On the audio front, ADVC110, like the other converters in the Canopus ADVC line, supports locked audio when converting from analog to digital video, assuring perfect audio and video synchronization. What makes ADVC110 unique is that it also allows for conversion of analog audio signals only, so users can easily record from any analog audio component without requiring a video source.

In addition to supporting all popular DV and analog video equipment, ADVC110 is compatible with leading editing and DVD authoring applications, including Canopus EDIUS, Canopus Let’s EDIT, Apple Final Cut Pro and iLife, Avid Xpress DV, Adobe Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas, Ulead MediaStudio Pro, and Windows Movie Maker. This broad video equipment and software support ensures maximum compatibility for almost any DV-editing workflow.

ADVC110 supports NTSC, PAL and SECAM standards and is available now for a suggested retail price of $319 from Canopus and its authorized resellers.
