Memorex Announces August Ship Date for 16X DVD+R Media

Reprinted from a Memorex press release:

Memorex, the number one brand of digital media and media accessories, continues to be at the forefront of the industry’s latest DVD recording technology with its new 16X DVD+R media. Delivering the fastest burn time and highest performance available, consumers can depend on Memorex 16X DVD+R discs to burn home movies, favorite music, family photos and important data in half the time of 8X media.

Memorex is among the first to meet the demand for 16X DVD+R media, bringing the highest speed optical media available to the retail shelf. With 16X DVD burners also scheduled to appear this summer, consumers can use 16X DVD+R media to burn an entire disc — a full two hours of video — in approximately six minutes! The discs store 4.7GB of video, photo, music or data files.

“DVD recording has come a long way since the technology became widely available to consumers in 2001, when a single DVD took about 120 minutes to burn,” said Brad Yeager, senior product marketing manager for digital media. “With the latest speed advancements in Memorex 16X DVD+R media, consumers can convert VHS home movies to DVD, back-up computer files or archive their music library in just a fraction of the recording time.”

Memorex 16X DVD+R discs complement Memorex’s high-performance, award-winning DVD recorders, as well as the new internal and external D2 Dual Format, Double Layer 16X DVD Recorders also announced today.

Pricing and Availability
Memorex 16X DVD+R media will be shipping to retail stores nationwide in August. Discs will initially be available in 5-packs, with prices starting at $11.99 per pack.
