Toshiba Introduces DVD Burning Satellite Notebook

Reprinted from a Toshiba press release:

Toshiba’s Digital Products Division (DPD) today announced the availability of the Satellite M35-S456 Special Edition lightweight wireless notebook PC. Designed for consumers, families, students and gamers, the Satellite M35 Special Edition offers TruBrite screen technology, providing images that are brighter than standard wide-screen LCD displays and offering an extended viewable range. In addition, its High-quality Video Engine enables traditional television-quality video entertainment on a notebook screen, with crisper images, brighter colors, higher contrast and smoother motion.

“Our customers continue to use their mobile PCs for entertainment purposes, so it’s our goal to meet that demand by delivering technology that is not traditionally found in a notebook – whether it’s enhanced graphics, surround sound or personal theater displays,” said Taro Hiyama, vice president of marketing for Toshiba DPD, a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. “The Satellite M35 Special Edition represents the next step in mobile computing by providing users with a multimedia-rich notebook with the power and performance of a desktop replacement.”

The Satellite M35 Special Edition includes a composite video in port so users can hook-up their favorite gaming console or camcorder for on-the-fly gaming or to display home movies in the office, on the road, at home or on campus. It also includes SRS WOW & TruSurround XT technology and harman/kardon stereo speakers, so users can enjoy a more cinematic-quality experience when listening to music or watching movies.

The Satellite M35-S456 Special Edition is fully loaded with a DVD-SuperMulti drive that supports both DVD +/- formats and includes DVD-RAM functionality to back up large amounts of data without the worry of DVD compatibility issues. Also included is Express Media Player, which allows users to launch movies without booting up the Microsoft Windows operating system for added convenience.

The Satellite M35-S456 Special Edition comes standard with a host of software features to provide customers with added entertainment, as well as diagnostic tools to help them troubleshoot possible errors. Included on the unit are a trial version of Napster’s downloading software for users to create a personal digital music library of favorite songs, Toshiba’s PC Diagnostic which helps troubleshoot general computer issues, and ConfigFree that enables users to quickly locate wired and wireless communications problems to help resolve them.
