Reprinted from a Gateway press release:

Business and home computer users who don’t want to compromise on performance when buying a notebook now have two new options from Gateway that fit the bill: the Gateway M675 high-performance mobile workstation with a 17-inch widescreen display, and the Gateway M505 multimedia-optimized system with built-in subwoofer and the latest graphics processors.

These products were launched today at the Gateway store in New York City, where chairman and CEO Ted Waitt revealed the company’s dramatic retail transformation and unveiled 14 new products for businesses and consumers.

“These new systems settle the debate between performance and mobility for business and home computer users alike,” said Mike Stinson, vice president and general manager, mobile products, Gateway, Inc. “Features such as large widescreen displays, powerful processors, high-fidelity sound systems and advanced graphics give these notebooks the extra edge to convince more computer users to go mobile.”

The Ultimate Desktop Replacement for Graphics and Gaming
PC users who need a mobile system — but are wary of giving up the power of their desktop PC — now have the ultimate desktop replacement solution with new Gateway M675 notebook. The new notebook boasts features typically reserved for high-end desktop systems, including a stunning 17.1-inch widescreen display, dedicated high-end graphics, support for multiple hard drives, and powerful Intel Pentium 4 processors with Intel Hyper Threading (HT) technology.

Business and government computer users will appreciate that the Gateway M675 delivers top-notch performance that rivals the most powerful desktop PCs and can handle the most demanding productivity and video applications with ease. The high-resolution widescreen display accommodates two pages side-by-side as well as large spreadsheets. The dedicated 10-key numeric key pad boosts the productivity of finance and engineering professionals who do a lot of number crunching. Support for optional 802.11g or 802.11a/g wireless and standard Gigabit Ethernet connectivity ensures fast network access.

The new mobile PC is also ideal for consumers who want the best mobile systems for digital media and gaming. Dedicated ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 8X AGP graphics with either 64MB or 128MB of video memory ensures optimum performance for game playing and graphics intense applications. Also, the Gateway M675 is ready for digital media; the system’s IEEE 1394 port and four USB 2.0 ports let consumers easily connect to digital cameras, digital camcorders and MP3 players.

The three-spindle modular design allows for maximum flexibility. The two modular bays can house a DVD burner, CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive, six-in-one memory card reader, floppy disk drive or even second and third hard drives. The ability to support up to two additional hard drives is a benefit for many industries such as government agencies that need high-capacity storage for audio, video, pictures and other files, or have to remove the hard drives from the PC to secure sensitive information.

The Gateway M675 will be sold in two configurations, with additional customizing available for business customers. A port replicator is available for $139.

Priced at $1,999.99, the Gateway M675X includes an Intel Pentium 4 processor 3.0GHz with HT technology and 800MHz front side bus, 512MB 333MHz DDR SDRAM, 60GB hard disk drive, six-in-one memory card reader, modular 2X DVD-R/-RW/CD-RW recorder, 64MB of VRAM, integrated 802.11g wireless and Microsoft Windows XP Home.

The Gateway M675XL, priced at $2,499.99, includes an Intel Pentium 4 processor 3.2 GHz and 800MHz front side bus, 512MB 333MHz DDR SDRAM, 60GB hard disk drive, six-in-one memory card reader, modular 2X DVD-R/-RW/CD-RW recorder, 128MB of VRAM, integrated 802.11g wireless and Microsoft Windows XP Pro.
