Reprinted from a Canopus press release:
Canopus Corporation today announced ProCoder Express, the company’s cost-effective, consumer-oriented video conversion package based on the core technology found in ProCoder, Canopus’s professional video transcoding software. ProCoder Express is fast, easy-to-use and lets consumers create video files for DVD, VCD, Web streaming and emailing to friends, in just a few simple steps.
ProCoder Express uses a helpful wizard that guides users step-by-step to easily create professional-looking videos. The intuitive wizard interface also helps users choose the optimal settings for a full range of applications, such as Web, email, DVD and high definition playback, so users don’t need to know the science of video compression.
ProCoder Express features high-quality Canopus DV and MPEG codecs and converts almost any video source to a variety of popular formats including MPEG-1, MPEG-2, Windows Media, QuickTime, RealVideo and DivX. For greater convenience, ProCoder Express provides drag-and-drop Watch Folder support for automated encoding when files are placed in a specified folder, as well as timeline output plug-ins for Canopus Let’s EDIT, Canopus EDIUS, and Adobe Premiere (6.x and Pro) nonlinear editing software.
Making ProCoder Express a solution that’s hard to beat, Canopus is including a DivX Pro license, allowing for full utilization of ProCoder Express’s optimized DivX output to produce home-theater quality video.
“Why should video enthusiasts be forced to rely on separate tools and unpredictable quality for their video? With ProCoder Express, there’s no need to use complicated tools that can take fifteen steps and a degree in computer science to operate,” said Robert Sharp, general manager of Canopus Corporation. “ProCoder Express handles all the technical details of video conversion, such as deinterlacing, frame-rate conversion and aspect ratio adjustment, so the user doesn’t have to be a video guru in order to get high-quality results.”

A downloadable version of ProCoder Express is available now directly from the Canopus Web site and a boxed retail version of ProCoder Express will be available November 17, 2003 through Canopus and its authorized dealers.
