Matrox RT.X100 Deployed at Taiwan Public Television Service Training Center

Reprinted from a Matrox Video Products Group press release:

Matrox Video Products Group today announced that Taiwan's Public Television Service (PTS) has opened a new training center based on Matrox RT.X100 realtime video editing platforms. Commissioned by Taiwan's Government Information Office (GIO), the center includes 15 Matrox RT.X100 systems. In a 60-hour course, professional editors and reporters learn non-linear DV editing and DVD production. PTS also uses the RT.X100 systems to edit programming of local aboriginal news and cultural events, including regular shows "The Formosa Aboriginal News Magazine" and "Face to Face with the Clans."
PTS evaluated solutions from Pinnacle and Canopus before choosing Matrox. "We test drove the RT.X100 system, and were satisfied with its performance and reliability," said Danvan Huang, PTS chief of post production. "The most important features for our needs are the RT.X100's efficient DV acquisition tools, realtime editing, graphic compositing and high quality character generator. The RT.X100 allows us to save time through efficient DV ingesting, realtime color correction and effects."
Other key characteristics that helped influence the decision were the Matrox RT.X100's realtime MPEG-2 capture and encoding for DVD authoring, flexible combination of filters and effects, full keyframe control and high-quality chroma key.
"Before this project, it was difficult to believe we could set up an entire video editing training center on our limited budget," said Huang. "The Matrox RT.X100 platform provides a complete set of editing and publishing tools at a high feature-to-price ratio."
System design, installation, training and support were provided locally by Voxel Vision Technology Corporation. Voxel Vision, a Matrox Video Products distributor in Taiwan, provides system integration for the local television broadcast and video post-production industries.
