ParticipantI've seen big budget Hollywood films that use normal cuts to a new scene (not fade to black), but have text on the lower third of "3 days later" or "3 years earlier" to indicate time. If the same actor is in both scenes before and after the cut – you can have the actor in different clothers in indicate time passage… There are many ways to accomplish this…

ParticipantCheck out this video – it may offer some help…

ParticipantI use my Canon XH-A1 camera to play-back my HD MiniDV tapes and I capture them using Sony Vegas Pro.

ParticipantThe cartoon effect was what we were going for… the kids seem to love it. All the customes where hand-made by a lady in our church, and the face prosthetics were purchased online. This posting was the first of three storys on our DVD titled – "The Tales of Timothy the Tiger".

ParticipantAnother video – this ones for our kids…

ParticipantFor this video, I tend to agree with the client… since I had a music background before I started video editing – I like things on the beat. The cuts sort of remind me of someone trying to clap to the music, but they are just a little behind because they have no rhythm. Maybe this is just my musical background talking…

ParticipantI capture HDV from a Canon XH-A1s almost every day in Sony Vegas… works well. Check your settings… There are some good tutorials on Youtube about capturing HD using Sony Vegas.

ParticipantI’m using a Canon XH-A1s… an yes, I’m zoomed on pretty good… shooting from the back of the church.

ParticipantI shoot our church services in 1080 60i – with no special lighting… I use Sony Vegas Pro 10 with the following settings:
Render as: Window Media Video V11
I created a template call Youtube Video: hit the custom tab
Video – CRB
Format – Windows Media Video 9
Image Size – HD (1280X720)
Here is one of my clips…

ParticipantOk, being fairly new to the video business, let me ask this question – What ways could Grinner make money with his “close call” video? I’m assuming he was being paid to shoot the race, but could he also sell that footage to news outlets, or as stock footage? Seems to mefootage like that would be worth something… Who would purchase that type of footage?

ParticipantI use a Dell laptop running Sony Vegas 10 to edit our church sermons to DVDs and to edit our monthly TV program. The render times can be long… I render HD video footage of a hour long sermon to DVD… usually takes about 4 hours to complete.

ParticipantAlong this same line – I’m looking to start a “My Biography” Video business for the senior citizens in my community to tell their life story, and was wondering what type of contract do I need? Does anyone have a sample contract they have customers sign that you wouldn’t mind sharing? Something that could be modified for my video business…
Thanks…

ParticipantAnother consideration – XA10 is limited to a 24Mbps maximum bitrate and 4:2:0 color sampling instead of the 50Mbps and 4:2:2 sampling… I believe the XH-A1 has the 4:2:2 color sampling.
Chuck
ParticipantOnly SD DVD at this time, but may create some Bluray DVD down the road…

ParticipantAlso looking for advice… I will be shooting a documentary this coming Spring that will release on DVD. I’m using two Canon XH-A1s… should I shoot in 60i, 30f, or 24f? The documentary will be mostly interviews with some “story re-enactments” added in…
