      Hello everyone,

I’m new here and I want to suggest me some lights for two kind of video occasions. In the first one I record some kind of books in a white table (something like the YouTube unboxing videos), and in the second I record in a music studio. In the the first occasion I don’t really care about the brightness of the lights (well I don’t like them very bright) but in the second occasion (the music studio) I like to make something more cosy so the lights must be a bit lower the problem is that in low light you have that pixelish kind of effect in the final video that I don’t want to.So what is the best solution should I have to buy different kind of lights for every occasion or is there an “all in one” solution?

      Thanks for your time 🙂

The pixelated thing is just that the camera is having to work harder because the light is too low, and of course it also makes focus accuracy worse. The thing really to consider is what do you want it to look like? When I’m filming in an office, I use large soft lights – and LED panels work well, or second hand, but hot, tungsten lamps. These don’t create much in the way of shadow because they’re big, and lots of people on budgets buy cheap fluorescent versions using soft boxes or umbrellas – that kind of thing. What you want for the office, which seems similar to your first scenario – is even lighting that’s pretty bright. In the studio, you want some shadows, so I’d probably use Fresnels as I like their light. I actually like tungsten ones, Arri being my favourite. You can focus some on the subjects and maybe bounce it off the ceiling. Sadly though, the demands of cameras and the demands of people in the video often are at odds.
