I have decided to buy a new panasonic G6. I am based in Australia which uses the PAL standard. The cost of electronics here is ridiculously high compared to the US. Adorama has the G6 listed for $498. Taking into account shipping and exchange rates, it comes to a total of AUD$629 shipped to my door. If I was to buy local stock it would cost a minimum of AUD$828. That’s a difference of AUD $199…

My question is, because the frame rates are different between NTSC and PAL what are the benefits if I buy the Australian version vs the US? Do I really need to have the PAL framerate?
