ParticipantLooking to upgrade video equipment. Comparing Canon C100 Mk ii vs EOS-R vs 90D, to be used primarily for documentary, interview and support videos.
Leaning towards C100 Mk ii but concerned about ageing firmware processing. I like the features on the Canon cinema C100 MK ii but have concerns about not being able to do 4K recording, which I don’t have a need for now or in the immediate future.
Budget between 2 to 3,000.00 dollars. Would like to buy new but not against purchasing used.
Not necessary to buy now, I could put off a few to several months.
Current camera setup involves Canon 80D, 70D various Canon glass and Rokinon DS: 16(EF-S), 24, 35, 50 and 85 mm lenses.
Will be editing with DaVinci Resolve software on desktop computer. (just upgraded)
Appreciate any feedback. -

Participanthi there…I just became a member of this forum…I owned both cameras and I also had the Canon 70D which I used as a B camera with my C100 mk2 sometimes. The 1080 quality of the C100 mk2 is the best around for sure. Now with the 90D I shoot in 4k (and 1080p) and I find the 4k to be very good and if I downrez to 1080p it can compete with the C100 but still the c100 has better 1080p. I will keep my C100 for sure but for smaller job my 90D is great and when paired with the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 it looks really good…but I don’t think the 90D will completely match the c100.
I see some ads selling used C100 mk2 at a good price. It’s an awesome camera but maybe its time has past…
the EOS-R looks good but I didn’t want to pay too much. I’m fine for now for the small jobs I’m hired to do.
I hope this helps
