At NAB 2019 last week, Joby showcased its new GorillaPod 3K PRO series. It’s a metal version of the hot-selling GorillaPod 3K model.

Professionals are always looking for supports that can handle the weight of their cameras. However, they all need something that isn’t going to be heavy to carry. Joby says the new GorillaPod 3K PRO is “designed for vloggers and content creators” who are looking for a “versatile, durable and reliable support.”

The new GorillaPod 3K can handle most lightweight mirrorless cameras. In total it can hold up to 3kg of camera equipment. When all mounted together, you will be able to grip, wrap and stand the camera on many surfaces. Plus, with metal supports, this new GorillaPod should be more durable and reliable than previous models.

New build design

Now being built out of metal, the support also features an aluminum BallHead 3K Pro with an Arca-Swiss compatible Quick Release plate. The ball head allows 90-degree tilt and 360-degree pan movements. There’s a second knob has been added to lock pan separately, and a numbered scale on the base lets users repeat 360-degree pans.

The GorillaPod 3K PRO is made of more than two dozen high precision ball and socket joints. The new anodized aluminum GorillaPod 3K legs should deliver “great durability, security and smooth movements on any kind of terrain,” according to Joby.

Availability

The GorillaPod 3K PRO series will be out this June.
