Sony Opens Applications for New “Alpha Female” Creator-in-Residence Program

Applications for Sony’s “Alpha Female” program are officially open. Five female photo and video creators will be invited to participate in the new program.

Those who are selected will receive grants, gear and other opportunities that will help them further their careers in video and photo.

What will the participants receive?

First, the five selected Alpha Females will receive a $25,000 grant that can be used however they feel will best further their careers.

Next, the winners will get $5,000 in gear. The best part is: those in the program can choose the gear they get. It doesn’t matter if they want a lens, a camera or both. Sony will provide. Sony also promises to loan any gear that goes over the $5,000 mark.

But money isn’t all they get. They’ll also enter a mentorship with one of Sony’s Artisans of Imagery. There will also be educational opportunities and networking events during the program. Plus, there will be an exhibit of the winner’s work at the end of the program.

How to apply to the “Alpha Female” Program?

Do you want to be one of the five women in the “Alpha Female” program? Here’s what you’ll need to have before applying:

  • A résumé
  • A one-minute video introducing yourself
  • Up to 5 photo and/or video samples of your work
  • A short written essay describing your biggest career challenge and how this program will help you overcome it
  • A written pitch of how you would use the program to achieve your career aspirations and what the outcome would be
  • A high-level budget plan outlining what you would be spending the money on

Once you have all that ready, you can apply at alphauniverse.com/alpha-female/.

When will the winners be announced?

The creators selected for the program will be announced in October.

To all of those applying: Good luck!
