Not sure what platform you’re using; however, I’ve found GREAT success in using a Blackmagic Intensity card (PCIe) and FinalCut Pro 5. Files are captured using HDMI out of HDR-SR1. It’s just like capturing from tape, except you have to que your footage, press play, then click NOW in FCP’s Capture window. Beautiful, beautiful Quicktime files are produced.
You can capture using the Intensity codec (which is installed when you install the card and software). The Blackmagic support team’s great with answering questions.
