I’ve never done a wedding, but I would think that the ceremony itself would require a tripod, while every thing else (including the reception) would be hand-held, shoulder-mounted (if that is an actual term), or monopod-mounted. BTW, while a fluid head would be great for a tripod, I think it wouldn’t be of any help on a monopod.
