1. USB 2 runs through USB 3
2. USB 3, in time, will become the standard replacing USB 2
3. Transfer rate is much better than USB 2, particularly for the large video files you will deal with.

My secondary drive is a USB 3 external and it allows me portability and speed I need to work my video files.
