I was part-raised in Melbourne (by Mum and Dad) and part-raised by my Aunt Matilda and Uncle Jim on their cattle-raising farm. I fell in love with the bush. So I went to an Ag College to become a farmer like my big Uncle Jim. One tiny problem. Nobody left me a farm (in their will) or the money to buy one. So I had to suffer the indignity of working for a living. Fast-forward to my retirement. My wife and I don’t raise cattle. We host overseas university students in our Canberra home. But any chance I get, I’ll drive into the bush:
