I use my JVC hard disk camcorder with Cyberlink PowerDirector 7, which perfectly supports the MPEG-2 format and recognizes .MOD and .TOD extensions. My software has an SVRT (Smart Video Rendering Technology) which quickly renders unedited portions of video. I think thatPowerDirector Express has the same thing. Somewhere in the production screen, you can select the box that says “Use SVRT”.
Anyway, you don’t want to convert to MPEG-1 unless you absolutely have to. Otherwise, you will be restricted to the picture quality (VCD to be exact)of MPEG-1.
