I got my first DVD burner years ago (2001) which happened to be a Pioneer 103 DVD-r/RW. Later down the road I got the 104. I’ve used both DVD+R and DVD-R and although new players are proclaiming they can play both formats, I’ve found over the years that DVD-R are by far MUCH more compatible all around (with new and old players) than are the DVD+R format. Although the gap is closing with campatibilty with newer DVD players, DVD-R are still much more compatible with older players (before 2002)
Hope this helps
