I don't think we know the whole story here. What is going on in the picture where these proposed automatic cuts are being made? I suppose if there was nothing on the video screen which was changing or moving, an arbitrary chunk of video wouldn't be missed . . . . . If there are camera or subject movements during an arbitrary ( software generated ) cut the results would be chaotic and confusing. I've watched a number of NLE tutorials on YouTube which are very frustrating to the viewer in their presentation. They could certainly benefit from some judicial editing and/or some serious planning before switching on the camera . . . . and I've yet to see any which would be improved by any " automatic " editing.
