http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/534310-REG/Tascam_DP_02CF_DP_02CF_Eight_Track_CompactFlash_Digital.htmlThis is not a 8 track recorder, it’s a 2 track recorder that can capture up to 8 tracks but only 2 at a time. it is useless for video use.
this one is a 4 track recorder but still i would not use it for video, plus this unit requires it to be plugged into a wall.
Just starting out the audio on your cam will work just fine, later when you make some money you can add a backup audio device, still you will not need more tracks then is on your camera. I use the M Audio Micro Track II http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MicroTrack2/ If you plan on recording bands a lot, that will cost you a few grand. Your want a cam with Genlock and a muti-track system with genlock so that you can sync the audio and video.
