Hi Tom –

I was able to edit AVCHD natively in Vegas 8 Pro on a coe 2 duo laptop I had (no longer have this). I found when I went back editing on my 2.53 GHz Pentium 4 that I needed an intermediary (thank you VASST & NewBlueFX).

I wouldn’t fret too much about the bugginess of VP9 – Sony usually comes out with an “a” version (like 9.0a) shortly after the initial release with lots of bug fixes. I must say I’m confused to hear that it doesn’t handle AVCHD as good as MS9. Have you checked on the official Sony Vegas message board?
