After starting my own stock footage site, http://www.unlimitedstockmedia.com, last year and having done a lot of research for the various needs for stock footage and talking to a lot of different producers out there, I’ve found that one good looking generic shot will outsell 50 mediocre shots. Variety is also good but look for those things that might be easy for you to get would be a pain for others to try and shoot themselves. This is what increases the value of a clip: quality, applicability, and difficulty. You could throw creativity in there as well depending on the situation.
