Did you use a scratch disk set-up where you told PP to capture the video to one drive and the audio to a different drive? I’m not real sure but there could be such a thing that your PC’s HD is having a hard time keeping up when previewing both the audio and video thus creating a lag.
If you have two sets of RAID drives, tell PP to capture the video to one drive and the audio to the other. Then when you drop your clip on the timeline, see if that makes any difference.
If you DID do that, then it almost sounds like your PC is laboring to meet the task of previewing both the HD video and audio together. Your are trying to preview rendered files on the timeline… right?
