Equipment isn’t everything, story is. You can have the best gear but it won’t make a lousy video any better. Also remember that sound is just as an important part of your production as the picture. If you are working with just one actor consider a wireless lavalier mic. An on camera mic can either be too far away from your subject, or pick up too much of the surroundings.
A good YT channel to look at is the work of Philip Bloom. He is a professional film maker and a lot of his videos are great examples of visually telling a story along with using the right music etc.
