Zhiyun has launched a new gimbal for use with smartphones. The company says that the Zhiyun Cinepeer Smooth 5E gimbal is designed to be used by everyone, from novices to masters.
True three-axis design
The Zhiyun Cinepeer Smooth 5E gimbal delivers 3-axis stabilization for smooth, stable camera movement. Zhiyan says that the gimbal’s orthogonal design offers a broader range of motion compared to competing products.
You can also choose between five shooting modes: Follow, Pan Follow, Lock, Vortex and Point of View. Zhiyun says the gimbal features advanced AI algorithms to deliver intuitive, professional-grade shooting with minimal effort.
Low-angle shots
Zhiyun says that you can tilt the gimbal downward to capture low-angle shots, whichever mode you are using. The gimbal’s responsive roll-axis motor means that you can capture standard and wide-angle selfies without any issues. In addition, all of the primary controls have been ergonomically placed for one-thumb operation.
Other features
The gimbal has a built-in high-CRI fill light that provides up to 680 lux of illumination. You can magnetically attach two more optional lights for a total output of up to 2040 lux.
You can get an optional AI tracker that attaches magnetically. Zhiyun says that this enables fast, accurate subject tracking, with gesture control. And the gimbal supports integration with the Apple ecosystem. This means that you can track, zoom, and monitor your shots with your Apple Watch.
ZY Cami and StaCam Apps
Zhiyun has two dedicated apps to use with your smartphone and the Cinepeer Smooth 5E gimbal. ZY Cami provides intelligent features such as subject tracking, gesture control and SMART mode. You also get one-tap editing for easy content creation.
Additionally, StaCam delivers professional filmmaking features including LUTs, focus peaking and monochrome display.

Most smartphones offer some form of digital stabilization. However, you will get much better and smoother results with a dedicated gimbal.
