Yongnuo has officially released the 25mm f/1.7 lens for Micro Four Thirds. Overall, its construction looks highly portable. It has a compact design that looks lightweight as well. Still, Yongnuo says, despite its compact build, the lens is capable of great performance.

In total, the 25mm f/1.7M weighs just 150 grams. Additionally, it’s 60.8mm wide (about 2.4 inches) and 66.6mm tall ( about 2.6 inches). It’s built with seven elements in six groups. It includes two extra-low dispersion elements (ED) and one aspherical element. Also, the lens offers autofocus capabilities. The lens’ autofocus is powered by a stepping motor.
The Yongnuo 25mm f/1.7M features an aperture range of f/1.7 through f/22. It houses a seven-bladed diaphragm and includes a focusing distance of 20 centimeters ( about 7.9 inches). Its filter diameter measures to be 52mm.
Overall, this isn’t the most powerful lens out on the market. Still, after looking at this MTF chart provided by Yongnyo, the lens handles itself well. While not the most powerful lens, its performance looks to be acceptable overall.
Pricing and availability
Right now, we don’t know the exact price of the 25mm f/1.7. However, we expect the lens will be affordable. Similar Micro Four Thirds lenses from Yongnuo were inexpensive. According to Petapixel, we can assume the lens will be under $150.
