Xiaomi and Leica Camera AG have announced their newest co-engineered product, the Xiaomi 14T series of smartphones. There are two models in the range, the Xiaomi 14T and the more powerful Xiaomi 14T Pro. Both smartphones have a triple camera system with Summilux lenses, which have been developed in collaboration with Leica.
Xiaomi 14T Pro cameras
The Xiaomi 14T Pro features a triple camera system with five different focal lengths from 15 mm to 120 mm. It has a 50-megapixel Leica main lens with fast ƒ/1.6 Leica Summilux optics. The main camera’s sensor also captures 32 percent more light than its predecessor. Xiaomi says that this delivers brilliant, detailed shots with a high dynamic range even in difficult lighting conditions. The other two cameras offer a 50-megapixel Leica telephoto lens and a 12-megapixel Leica ultra wide-angle option.
Xiaomi 14T Pro cameras
The Xiaomi 14T is equipped with a 50-megapixel main camera which has also been co-engineered with Leica. It features an Æ’/1.7 aperture and IMX906 sensor. Xiaomi says that this delivers sharp, vibrant images in all lighting conditions. In addition, the triple camera system gives you a versatile range of focal lengths from 15 to 100 mm.
Video recording

As well as good options for still photography, the Xiaomi 14T smartphones feature some great functions for video shooting. These include advanced video modes that utilize the Leica lens technology. The video modes give you options such as cinematic blur and rack focus. In addition, the smartphones support the 10-bit Rec. 2020 format which gives you HDR support. This delivers high-resolution images with a wide dynamic range.
AMOLED display
The Xiaomi 14T and Xiaomi 14T Pro smartphones both feature a 6.67-inch CrystalRes AMOLED display. These displays have a 1.5K resolution (2712 × 1220 pixels) and a maximum refresh rate of 144 Hz. They also deliver a maximum brightness of 4000 Nits so you will be able to see the screens outdoors on a sunny day.
Multicore CPU
The Xiaomi 14T Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ processor. Compared to its predecessor, this gives you a multicore performance boost of 37 percent for the CPU and 44 percent for the GPU. Xiaomi says that this delivers top performance across all areas, including gaming, multimedia or demanding AI applications.
Also, the Xiaomi 14T features the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra processor which balances performance with energy efficiency. This offers a CPU that is 20 percent more powerful, and a GPU that is 60 percent more powerful, than the previous version.
Battery power
The Xiaomi 14T and Xiaomi 14T Pro smartphones both feature a high-performance 5000 mAh rechargeable battery which supports fast charging. With 120 W HyperCharge, the Xiaomi 14T Pro can go from zero to maximum power in a lightning-fast 19 minutes. It is also the first T-model to support wireless charging at up to 50 W. In addition, the Xiaomi 14T is enabled for 67 W HyperCharge, which ensures you won’t have to wait too long when charging your smartphone.
What we think
With their Leica lenses, the Xiaomi 14T and Xiaomi 14T Pro smartphones feature impressive cameras. The triple camera systems also give you great flexibility for a range of composition from portraiture to panoramic shots.
In addition, the advanced video modes and 10-bit Rec. 2020 HDR support should ensure impressive video capture. At the moment, the Xiaomi 14T and Xiaomi 14T are only available in Europe. Hopefully, Xiaomi will bring both models to the U.S. soon.
