Viltrox has launched a new tube light for videography. The Viltrox K90 Light Stick Dual RGB Light is a high power 30 W light with a built-in battery. You also get two lights in the standard package for even more versatility.
K90 Fill Light
The Viltrox K90 Fill Light has a compact design, measuring 38.3 inches (973.3 mm) in length, by 1.6 inches (40.5 mm) by 1.5 inches (39.2 mm). It’s also lightweight at just over 30 ounces (864 g) for the bare light. In addition, the power output is rated at 30 W. The K90 delivers 2,300 lumens of luminous flux and 2550 lux illuminance at full power measured at 5,500 K and 39 inches (0.5 meters). Viltrox says that the K90 produces such a soft light that you don’t need a soft box to modify the output.
RGB
Despite its size, the Viltrox K90 packs in 448 individual LEDs. These include 140 RGB, 154 warm white, and 154 cold white bulbs. As a result, the Viltrox K90 outputs a full range of RGB colors. It also has a CCT range from 2,500 K to 8,500 K and supports Green-Magenta adjustment. Additionally, the light has a CRI of 95 and a TLCI of 97. This means you can be sure that the light will reproduce the colors in your scene accurately.
Battery life
The Viltrox K90 has a 3300 mAh built-in battery that lasts for up to 70 minutes at 5,600 K and 100% power. It also supports up to 35 W fast charging via USB-C. A full charge takes just two hours. Most popular USB-C power connection standards are supported, including PD (USB Power Distribution 2.0, 3.0 and 3.1), Samsung AFC, Huawei FCP/SCP and QC (Quick Charge 2.0 and 3.0). Additionally, you can use the K90 while it is charging.
Controls
The Viltrox K90 has a built-in display screen which shows the main settings and remaining power. You can also adjust the light using the onboard physical control buttons. Alternatively, you can use a remote control or Viltrox’s mobile app. And the K90 offers more than 26 customizable lighting effects.
Mounting
The Viltrox K90 has dual ¼-inch threaded ports on both ends. There are also four magnetic light tube clamps in the standard package.
What we think
The Viltrox K90 RGB Fill Light is a versatile lighting solution. Although the tubes aren’t bright enough for use as a key light, they are designed as a fill light. With a full RGB output, they are also ideal for use as background or effects lights. As the standard package includes two light tubes, you can also get really creative.
