NAB 2026: UGREEN iDX6011 Pro wins Best NAS

The UGREEN iDX6011 Pro has taken home the Best NAS of NAB 2026 award from Videomaker. The six-bay AI NAS impressed us with workstation-class hardware, dual Thunderbolt 4, dual 10GbE networking and on-device AI that actually does useful work for video teams.

Workstation hardware in a NAS chassis

Most NAS units run on low-power chips. The iDX6011 Pro does not. UGREEN built it around an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H with 16 cores, a 5.1 GHz boost clock, and 96 TOPS of AI performance. You get 64GB of LPDDR5X memory soldered to the board at 8,400 MT/s. That’s enough horsepower to run multiple 4K proxy workflows, serve a small team, and still have overhead for local AI tasks.

The matte grey aluminum chassis measures 349 x 260 x 212mm. It’s closer in size to a small-form-factor PC than a typical NAS. A 3.71-inch vertical touchscreen on the front shows CPU load, network traffic, drive health, and temperature. It’s genuinely useful when you want a quick read on the system without opening a browser tab.

Built for video workflows

The iDX6011 Pro ships with the kind of connectivity editors actually need. Dual Thunderbolt 4 ports hit 40Gb/s each, which is fast enough to handle 8K ProRes ingest directly from a camera drive. Dual 10GbE ports on the back let multiple editors pull 4K timelines off the NAS at the same time without stuttering. There’s also 8K HDMI, an SD 4.0 card reader, USB 3.2 Gen 1, and an OCuLink port for attaching an external GPU dock.

Six tool-free drive bays accept 3.5-inch drives in under 30 seconds each. Max verified capacity sits at 196TB using 30TB drives, though UGREEN says larger drives should work as they become available. RAID options cover 0, 1, 5, 6, and 10, plus JBOD. A separate 128GB system SSD keeps the OS and apps off your storage pool.

On-device AI for creators

The AI layer is what separates this NAS from the usual crowd. UGREEN’s on-device assistant, Uliya, runs locally on the Intel NPU and can transcribe voice recordings, summarize documents, answer questions from your file library, and search video footage using natural language. Everything stays on the box. No cloud uploads and no subscription fees.

Voice transcription is the standout feature for video teams. Drop in interview audio or B-roll with dialogue and Uliya generates searchable transcripts without any files leaving your network. It’s not as fast as a dedicated cloud transcription service, but the privacy tradeoff is worth it for editorial and legal teams working with sensitive material.

Expansion that future-proofs the box

UGREEN left room to grow. The internal PCIe Gen4 x8 slot supports add-in cards up to 75W, so you can drop in extra networking, a fiber channel card, or a compact GPU. The OCuLink port opens up external GPU docks for AI acceleration beyond what the NPU can handle. If your team grows into heavier AI workloads like local LLMs or video upscaling, the iDX6011 Pro scales with you.

What we think

Plenty of NAS units handle storage. Few are built with the specific pain points of video production in mind. The iDX6011 Pro ticks the boxes that matter for our audience: fast ingest over Thunderbolt, multi-editor network throughput on 10GbE, serious expansion headroom, and local AI that actually speeds up postproduction tasks. The hardware is also quiet, with fan noise rated between 29 and 34 dB. That matters if the NAS lives in your edit bay.

Pricing and availability

The UGREEN iDX6011 Pro is scheduled to ship in May 2026. Early-bird Kickstarter pricing started at $1,559. Suggested retail pricing is $2,599, though UGREEN has adjusted the timeline due to memory market volatility. Drives are sold separately. The unit ships with a three-year warranty and five years of security updates.
