TTArtisan has announced a new budget telephoto prime lens for Fujifilm X Mount cameras. The TTArtisan AF 75mm F2 has a fast maximum aperture of F2 and is already available for Sony E, Nikon Z and L-Mount cameras.
Portrait lens
The TTArtisan AF 75mm prime lens is designed for use with cameras with an APS-C sized sensor. This means that the lens delivers the same field of view as a focal length of around 112.5 mm on a full-frame camera. TTArtisan says that 75 mm is often regarded as the gold standard for portrait photography. This focal length is also ideal for close ups and full body shots.
Optical design
The TTArtisan AF 75mm prime lens is designed with 10 lens elements in 7 groups. These include four high refractive index lens elements. The lens also features one extra-low dispersion glass lens element. TTArtisan says that this delivers excellent chromatic aberration control.
F2 aperture
The TTArtisan AF 75mm prime lens has a fast maximum aperture of F2. This will deliver good performance in low light and a shallow depth of field. The lens also has a nine-bladed iris that should deliver a smooth, round bokeh. There’s a manual aperture ring for controlling exposure. Unfortunately, this has click stops, which means you can’t change exposure smoothly while shooting video.

Autofocus
The autofocus on the AF 75mm prime lens uses an STM stepper motor. TTArtisan says that this delivers fast, silent, and accurate focusing. The lens also supports eye, animal and vehicle detection. Also, the close focus distance is only 2.5 feet (0.75 meters) for great close-up work.
Build
The TTArtisan AF 75mm prime lens features a full metal body. However, it is still relatively lightweight at only 11.5 ounces (326 g). It’s also compact at 2.9 inches (74 mm) in length and 2.6 inches (67 mm) in diameter. The filter size is 62 mm. In addition, the 75 mm prime lens has a built-in USB-C port for firmware upgrades. It comes with a lens hood as well.
What we think
The TTArtisan AF 75mm prime lens is a useful new addition to the options available for Fujifilm X Mount camera users. It’s an ideal focal length for portrait work and close-ups. With the wide F2 aperture, you will get soft, blurred backgrounds. The lens should also perform well in low light. The only real downside for video use is the clicked aperture. This means that you will see noticeable steps in exposure if you change your F-stop while shooting video. If you don’t mind that, then the TTArtisan AF 75mm prime lens is a great telephoto lens at a budget price.
