Canon’s 4K broadcast lens lineup is one of the most expensive in the industry. The Canon CJ17ex6.2B is the line’s latest broadcast lens. It’s a portable, 4K broadcast zoom lens with a highly versatile focal length.
The CJ17ex6.2B, according to the Canon, is an “optically excellent” lens for 2/3” 4K cameras. As more broadcasters shift from HDto 4K, lenses like the CJ17ex6.2B are becoming more valuable. It’s capable of recording professional-level HDR and 4K video.
Canon’s CJ17ex6.2B broadcast lens is a wide-angle and telephoto lens
The Canon CJ17ex6.2B broadcast lens is a highly versatile lens. Its large focal length allows it to act as both a wide-angle and telephoto lens. The lens works well for professionals like events, sports, news, and studio broadcasts. Additionally, the J17ex6.2B minimizes ghosting and flare. This allows for better HDR capture. Ghost and flaring are compatible with the lens’s chromatic aberration correction, based on the BT.2020 wide color gamut.
Essentially, the Canon CJ17ex6.2B is two lenses in one. It offers high magnification with a 17x zoom ratio and a wide-angle view at 6.2mm. The Canon broadcast lens also boasts a focal range of 6.2mm to 106mm. When using the built-in 2x optical extender, it delivers a 12.4mm to 212mm focal range.

Portability is another key competent to broadcast setups. Canon claims the CJ17ex6.2B works great for one-shoulder shooting and interviewing. In total, the lens weighs just 4.78 pounds. It measures to be 6.49 inches (w) x 4.31 inches (h) x 9.46 inches (l) in size.
