OWC revealed the Envoy Pro FX, a new compatible Mac / PC, Thunderbolt and USB Portable SSD. The drive looks promising, offering fast speed and data protection.
The Envoy Pro FX supports the max performance of all Thunderbolt and USB interfaces, which maxes out at 2800MB/s. Also, according to OWC, it is “built like a tank.” The drive is dust resistant, drop-proof and waterproof. Also, OWC claims you can transfer gigabytes of data in seconds.
OWC says the drive “goes to the next level by being the ideal drive for various uses and ranging from photography, video, and document storage backups to a secondary/portable OS boot drive.” “The perfect on-set project drive for editing dailies, multi-angled camera shots, utilizing large sample libraries within audio projects, or portable Steam games library,” OWC claims.
OWC Envoy Pro FX’s durability
In terms of durability, the drive can withstand at least a drop of four feet. As for water resistance, the drive can last up to 30 minutes at < 1 meter. It’s built with fanless, heat-dissipating aluminum housing. Size-wise, it’s smaller than most compact smartphones.
