Tamron recently published its full year financial results for 2025. The overall summary revealed a decline in sales and profits across the year. However, the company is promising a strong 2026, with at least 10 new lenses being launched.
2025 summary
Tamron’s financial report for 2025 showed that over the full year the company experienced a decline in sales and profits. There were improvements in Q4 though, so the company ended 2025 on a more positive note. Tamron also reported that there was a “continued decline” in the market for DSLR cameras. However mirrorless camera sales remained strong. There was a slight increase in unit volume, but the value was “broadly flat, year on year.”
In addition, Tamron explained that business had been affected by “continued geopolitical risks and growing uncertainty from U.S. tariff policies.”
OEM sales
A large proportion of Tamron’s manufacturing business relates to OEM sales. OEM stands for “original equipment manufacturer.” It means that Tamron makes lenses for other companies to sell under their own brand names. In 2024, 55% of the lenses produced by Tamron were sold under their own name, while 45% were marketed by other companies. However, across 2025, Tamron’s own-brand lenses accounted for 59% of sales, with OEM business falling to 41%. Tamron explained that this was due to “sluggish sales of certain ordered models.”

New lenses for 2026
Tamron launched six new lenses under its own brand in 2025. These included the 16-30mm F/2.8 VXD G2 (A064), the 25-200mm F/2.8-5.6 VXD G2 (A075) and the 18-300mm F/3.5-6.3 VC VXD (B061). The company also released a Nikon Z mount version of its 70-180mm F/2.8 VXD G2 (A065) lens. While Tamron only launched five new lenses in 2023, it had seven new models in 2024, so the figure of six last year was a slight drop. However, the company’s new Medium-Term Management Plan (MTMP) targets 10 new model launches per year by 2026.
What we think
Tamron produces a wide range of high quality lenses for all of the major lens mount systems. As well as its own Tamron-branded lenses, a significant part of the company’s business is making lenses for other companies. While there has been a slight reduction in that part of Tamron’s sales, the financial report shows an overall strong position.
Additionally, the promise of 10 new Tamron own-brand lenses per year from 2026 onwards points to an exciting future. That figure of 10 lenses will no doubt include a single model launched across several mount systems. However, video makers will be eagerly awaiting the announcements of the new Tamron lenses in the coming months.
