Sony’s 4K HDR camcorders, the HXR-NX80 and PXW-Z90, will receive a free firmware upgrade that gives the cams support for Simple Live Streaming.
Simple Live Streaming looks to allow content creators to give shooters the flexibility to shoot wherever they want. “The introduction of Simple Live Streaming … streamlines the overall workflow, from shooting to live distribution,” says Sony.
Simple Live Streaming on the HXR-NX80 and PXW-Z90 works to ensure mobility
Sony achieved the “Simple Live Solution” by combining the MCX-500 Multi-camera Live Producer and the RM-30MP remote commander. When you need to expand your live streaming to multiple camcorder operation, the HXR-NX80 and PXW-Z90 can be connected to the MCX-500 via SDI or HDMI. The will allow the camera to live stream to social media platforms with live features like tally, title and transition.
The Simple Live Streaming that’s supported by HXR-NX80 and PXW-Z90 “offers even simpler operation achieved by single camera,” according to Sony.
Sony: “shoot in any situation”
Both the camcorders are lightweight cameras. With Simple Live Streaming, they should be able to live stream in many different situations. This includes events, concerts, seminars, weddings and news reporting.
The camcorders only need a Wi-Fi connection to start live streaming.

The firmware upgrade is free and will be out at the end of 2019.
