SIGMA announced three prime lenses for Fujifilm X Mount

Lens manufacturer SIGMA has announced three new prime lenses for Fujifilm X Mount mirrorless cameras. These are the first SIGMA lenses with a native X Mount. SIGMA designed all three lenses for usage with cameras featuring APS-C-sized sensors.

SIGMA 16mm DC DN Contemporary prime lens

The SIGMA 16mm DC DN Contemporary prime lens has a 83.2-degree angle of view. This means it will give an image similar to a 24 mm lens on a full-frame camera. The SIGMA 16mm lens has a fast maximum aperture of f1.4, so it should be great for low-light shooting. The iris has nine blades to give a round diaphragm, resulting in a pleasing bokeh.

SIGMA constructed the SIGMA 16mm lens with 16 elements in 13 groups and has a minimum focusing distance of 9.8 inches. In addition, the lens has a 67 mm filter thread and weighs 14.3 ounces.

SIGMA 30mm DC DN Contemporary prime lens

The SIGMA 30mm DC DN Contemporary prime lens is equivalent to a 50 mm lens on a full-frame camera with a 50.7-degree angle of view. The lens also has the same f1.4 maximum aperture and nine-bladed iris design as the SIGMA 16mm lens.

The 30 mm lens has nine glass elements in seven groups. In addition, the lens can focus as close as 11.8 inches and has a filter thread of 52 mm. It’s also the lightest of the three new X Mount lenses, weighing only 9.7 ounces.

SIGMA 56mm DC DN Contemporary prime lens

The SIGMA 56mm DC DN Contemporary prime lens has a 28.5-degree angle of view. This means it will be equivalent to an 85 mm lens on a full-frame camera. As with the other two new lenses, the SIGMA 56mm lens also has an f1.4 maximum aperture and nine-bladed iris.

SIGMA constructed its 56mm lens with ten elements in six groups and a close focusing distance of 19.7 inches. In addition, the filter thread is 55 mm and the lens weighs 9.9 ounces.

Pricing and availability

SIGMA has said that all three lenses will be launched in April 2022 and you can preorder now. The SIGMA 16mm lens has a retail price of $449, the SIGMA 30mm lens is $339 and the SIGMA 56mm lens is $479.

In addition, SIGMA has announced that their SIGMA 18-50mm f2.8 DC DN Contemporary zoom lens is under development for X Mount and will be launched later in the year.
